ABOUT US

In 1998 we travelled to South Africa for the first time. We immediately fell in love with South Africa. What a beautiful country! We travelled the world intensively, but no country came close to the beauty and diversity of South Africa.
Although we really enjoyed our lives in Amsterdam in The Netherlands, we just could not forget about South Africa. We took every opportunity we got to travel back to southern Africa. The people we met were so friendly. South Africa truly gives us the feeling of freedom, adventure and entrepreneurship.

When our son Daan was 2 years old, we were still dreaming of living here. Our aim was to start a guest house in a location that has it all: everything our visitors would like as well as the facilities we need for our family life. Last but not least we love people and cooking. So we started looking for the perfect place.
When we first visited De Molen in January 2008, we immediately knew we found that perfect place! De Molen not only has lots of character, beautiful surroundings and stunning views. It is also a safe and friendly environment for Daan, ourselves and of course our guests. We are confident De Molen will find a special place in your memories.
Just days (!) before our immigration in July 2007 we were approached by Dutch Television to make a 60- minute documentary covering our departure and our first months in Somerset West. We are really happy with our new live in South Africa. We take great pride in what we have achieved with De Molen Guest House in such a short time and in the fact that we already have had quite a number of repeat guests. Even before celebrating our 1st Anniversary. A great compliment, as we believe in making all our guests happy.
